Hi all,
Bowmen has a chat system enabled on the difficulty selection screen whereby you can chat with your fellow archers, post onslaught scores, boast about your rank, and so on. Starting with game version RC 1.00, there are a few chat commands that we've bestowed upon users, as well as a few potential messages.
List of Commands:
-
/leave - Allows you to leave the chat channel if you do not wish to see player messages.
-
/join - Rejoins the chat channel if you were not connected.
-
/help - Lists all the commands available to you in the chat.
-
/enable - Enables certain GM features (if you have authorization). For a list of these features, see the developer section.
Chat Messages:
On occasion, you may encounter one of these in game messages.
-
You have been permanently banned from speaking in the chat server for misconduct by a GM. Visit etherealgem.com/support for more information.
As the above text states, you will see this message when a GM issues a ban to your Bowmen account. Bans can be issued for a variety of reasons, including (but not limited to): excessive harassment, hate speech, threats, posting private information about individuals, using racial slurs, attempting to circumnavigate the chat filter, and more.
If you've been banned and wish to have the ban lifted, please email our support team at contact@etherealgem.com. There is no guarantee we will respond or lift the ban if we find the ban to have been warranted. Also include as much detail as possible about the event (see bottom).
-
You have been warned by a GM for violating chat rules. If you continue your behavior, you may be permanently banned from chat. Visit etherealgem.com/support for more information.
This message indicates that a GM has issued you a warning and flagged your Bowmen account for misconduct. If your behavior preceding the warning message persists, you may be issued a permanent ban. Flagged accounts are monitored for up to 60 days following a warning being issued by a GM.
-
You have been unbanned from speaking in the chat server by a GM. Visit etherealgem.com/support for more information.
This message indicates that a GM has reversed course on a previous ban after reviewing the chat log. If you had submitted a previous request to be unbanned, you may receive this message after logging back into the game.
-
You are already connected to the chat channel. Type /help for a list of commands.
You will see this message if you typed "/join" while already being connected to Bowmen Global Chat.
-
You are not connected to the chat channel. Type /help for a list of commands.
Conversely, you will see this message if you typed "/leave" after already being disconnected from the chat channel.
-
The chat server is full or offline. Please visit etherealgem.com/support for more information.
This message indicates that the chat server is currently full, there was an error initializing the chat client, or the chat server is offline. Please check your internet connection and try restarting the application, or check the Support forum for any server maintenance updates.
If you receive this message and no server maintenance updates are posted, please submit the message as a "bug" under the Bug Report forum.
-
You have entered an incorrect command. If you would like to see all available commands, type /help.
This message pops up whenever you type "/" and then a command that is not recognized by the system. Check the command you are trying to execute and send it again. Please note that commands are case sensitive.
One final thing: GMs in the chat will appear in blue text with the rank "Game Master" next to their name. If you are issued a ban that you plan on contesting, it is helpful to write down the name of the GM that issued the ban and communicate that with our support staff. Include as MUCH detail as possible and be honest (we will review the chat log). Also note that the server does not announce when GMs join or leave the chat channel.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reply to this thread.
